Set daily and monthly gateway limits

Open a gateway in **Payment Gateways** and select **Limits**. The available limits are **Daily Amount Limit**, **Monthly Amount Limit**, and **Daily Order Limit**. Enter 0 for a limit you do not want to apply, then choose **Save Gateway** or **Update Gateway**.

What the limits measure

Usage is based on orders recorded as **Paid** for that gateway. The inventory shows daily and monthly processed amounts and order counts. Amount usage is recorded in the gateway's processing amount; review the processing currency when choosing a cap. It is not a bank balance, payout total, or guarantee of provider settlement.

What happens at a cap

A connection is skipped after its recorded usage reaches an enabled cap. A routing policy can choose another eligible member of the same provider type. If every member is disabled, blocked, or at a cap, that policy has no eligible gateway to offer.

Gateway limits and policy limits

Gateway limits apply to one saved connection. **Availability Rules** on a routing policy can also set a cap across its members. Both must allow the checkout. A cap is an availability rule based on recorded paid usage, not a reservation of capacity for all payments currently in progress.

If a gateway disappears unexpectedly, compare its current usage with the limits, check **Disable** and any **Sandbox blocked** or **Endpoint blocked** badge, and then review the routing policy. Avoid raising a limit until you have checked the correct connection and currency.
